On the morning of April 6, in Ben Tre, the Ministry of Industry and Trade hosted a ceremony for the "2011 National Media Award on energy efficiency". Attending the ceremony were Mr. Hoang Quoc Vuong - Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade, Mr. Tran Anh Tuan - Deputy Chairman of Ben Tre’s People Committee, and representatives from Departments of Industry and Trade in the South, other the departments and sectors in Ben Tre.
First prizes awarded to Reporter Phuong Lan from Vietnam Economic News and Reporter Nhu Suong from HCM TV station This is the fifth time the award was held with over 300 entries by 100 authors in 3 forms: written, video and speaking. As a result, there are 22 best works selected for the award, including two first prizes, four second prizes and five third prizes and eleven encouragement prizes. Besides, to acknowledge the contribution and accompaniment to the award of the reporters, journalists in the past 5 years, the organizers have placed two additional awards of dedication. Mr. Huynh Kim Tuoc - Director of Energy Conservation Center - HCMC, Head of the Awards Jury, said after five years the Award have attracted increasingly more attention and participation of the reporters. In 2011, the test files have been made with more investment, creativity, explorative topics in the implementation process, so the articles, documentaries, reports have been more interesting, close to reality and brought in the breath of life. At the ceremony, Deputy Minister Hoang Quoc Vuong appreciated the media's contribution to energy saving. Through the media, awareness of various levels, departments, enterprises and communities have had significant changes; the phrase of "energy saving" has become more familiar. Both positive and negative aspects reflected from the reports have contributed to pointing out the successes and limitations of activities in the business community to expand and adjust to achieve superior results. He also expected that, in the near future, the press agency, the award-winning authors continue to have articles, insightful reports that will further promote energy-saving work. Ministry of Industry and Trade will continue to support energy efficiency programs, especially to coordinate and encourage the media agencies to further promote energy saving.
